Heritagle: the daily World Heritage guessing game

Heritagle is a free daily geography game, a Wordle-style quiz about UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Every day at midnight UTC one mystery site becomes the answer, the same for every player on Earth. You have six guesses to find it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I play Heritagle?

Search any of the 1,200+ World Heritage Sites by name. Each guess shows how far away the mystery site is and in which direction, whether you matched its continent and country, whether it was inscribed on the World Heritage List earlier or later, and whether it is Cultural, Natural or Mixed.

When does a new site start?

A new mystery site starts every day at midnight UTC, the same one for every player.

Is there a hint?

Yes. If you are stuck, you can reveal today's hint, which tells you the mystery site's continent.

Which sites can be the answer?

Each day's answer comes from a curated set of widely recognisable sites, and you can guess any of the 1,200+ sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Is Heritagle free? Do I need an account?

Heritagle is free and needs no account. Your stats and streaks are saved in your own browser.

Can I share my result without spoilers?

Yes. After each game you can share an emoji grid with no site names, just your path to the answer.

Is Heritagle affiliated with UNESCO?

No. Heritagle is an independent game built on the public UNESCO World Heritage List data and is not affiliated with UNESCO.
